AIGA’s 20th Anniversary
Last Saturday, Jan. 30th, we were lucky to have the local KC chapter of the AIGA host their 20th anniversary party right within T2’s walls! Collaborating with the party planners, VISTA Productions and we completely transformed our space using LEDs and patterned lighting. We also installed several interactive projections, creating an environment that was both exciting and relaxing.
When the guests first entered, they were surprised to see their name float up on our mesh curtain. From there, most guests would travel upstairs to discover that our staircase had been lined with slowly pulsing blue and magenta LED lights. Behind the crowd, we installed a projection piece that showcased a slowly passing time span, depicting the past 20 years. Guests could then reach up and draw their own time lines, using body movements or even cell phone light, retelling the history using their own visual language. At several points, a milestone for that respective year would pop out of one of the lines being drawn and added to the stream. This piece was great to help create, because it not only re-enforced the sense of community it also illuminated the history of the AIGA!
More technical jargon after the jump!
For tracking the motion, we utilized an open source program called Community Core Vision. From there, we built the graphics application in Adobe Flash, communicating utilizing the TUIO framework and protocol. Extensive testing was to make sure that it was scalable as more people would arrive.

Thanks for posting such a terrific site. this blog was not only knowledgeable but also very inventive too. There normally are a limited number of bloggers who can create technical stuff that creatively. I look for articles about a subject like this. I have gone in detail through many websites to find knowledge regarding this!!!
This is a cool blog. I’m going subscribe.
